Last Sunday , I got a birthday gift      — a dictionary from my daughter. I like it very much. Because it’s very useful. Did you get a gift for your birthday? What is it ? Do you like it? Why ?

 

Step 3   Presentation

(1) Show the Ss some gift pictures    — scarf, watch, flowers, dictionary, tennis ball, bicycle, camera, CD and teach the new word “photo album.”

(2) Compare gifts (1a )

What do you think of these gifts. Talk about them and complete the chart .

(3) Present target language

    My father’s birthday is coming .

Bb: T: What should I get my father for his birthday?

      (Help the Ss answer by showing the picture)

Ss: How about a dictionary?

T: No, that’s  too boring .

Repeat by showing other pictures.

 

Step 4  Listening   (1b )

(1) Listen and number the comments in the order you hear .

(2) Listen again and draw lines to match the advice with the comments.

(3)Listen, repeat and write .

 

Step5  Pairwork (1c )

Practice the conversation in the picture. Act out your own conversation.

 

Step6  Groupwork

Ask some Ss to give advice about getting gifts and write a statement.
